Packing can be hectic and no matter how organized you think you are, you get that feeling of forgetting something. Don’t fret, we created a checklist of things people tend to forget to do before their move. This checklist will help ease your worries of missing to do the important things before your relocation!
Month before move: Cancel Memberships and Reoccurring Charges
Subscription services like gym memberships or bills should be taken care of a month before your move. People tend to forget that they have their reoccurring charges still billed to their old address so don’t forget to cancel them before your last day of expected use! This is because many gyms require a 30-day cancellation notice and cancelling before your move date will help you avoid disruption in any of the services you use.
Two Weeks before Move: Call Your Car Insurance
Closely manage your car insurance during the process of your move, the Department of Motor even advises citizens to do this since many states have different levels of required coverage. Even if you are moving in the same city, neighborhoods have different rates too. Make sure to call your insurer to get all the details about updating your car coverage in your new address.
1 Day before Move: Pack Plants and a Go-To Box
Have plants you want to take on your move? So you don’t leave them behind in a rush, come up with a plant plan a day before your move. Buy large buckets to store and transport your plants in your vehicle with little mess. Before your move day, pack a go-to box that will have items that you will need for the first 24 hours at your new place. The go-to box will have things like paper towel, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, utensils, paper plates, clean sheets and maybe even a bottle of champagne to celebrate your hard work and to your new home!
